Tyre, Sidon and Philistia: plotting, planning

Joel 3 (NLT):

4 “What do you have against me, Tyre and Sidon and you cities of Philistia? Are you trying to take revenge on me? If you are, then watch out! I will strike swiftly and pay you back for everything you have done.
...
9 Say to the nations far and wide:
“Get ready for war!
Call out your best warriors.
Let all your fighting men advance for the attack.
10 Hammer your plowshares into swords
and your pruning hooks into spears.
Train even your weaklings to be warriors.
11 Come quickly, all you nations everywhere.
Gather together in the valley.”

Lebanese army-Fatah al Islam showdown in northern Lebanon threatens to spread to Palestinian camps in South "Fatah al-Islam are not fighting alone; they are backed by elite units of the Iranian-Syrian-backed Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestinian-General Command..." (the Revelation 13 Lion-Bear-Leopard beast at work)

DEBKAfile Exclusive: Cairo bribes Hamas for Gaza ceasefire deal with release of Sinai arms smuggling bosses "Israel’s high command was shocked to learn that the four managers of the arms smuggling tunnel network recently jailed by Cairo are to be released. Four are Hamas and one Jihad Islami. Word has gone out to the Sinai-Gaza smuggling network that it is back in business after a very brief interruption and detention in Egypt is no real threat. The smuggling routes will be up and running again in no time including the central Philadelphi enclave route of southern Gaza which abuts on Sinai..."

Ahmadinejad: Destruction of Israel close
"Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that the world would witness the destruction of Israel soon, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported...'God willing, in the near future we will witness the destruction of the corrupt occupier regime,' Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying during a speech to foreign guests who attended ceremonies marking the 18th anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini"

Reuters on this story: Ahmadinejad: "'If you make a mistake and create another war against the oppressed Lebanese nation, this time the angry ocean of the nations of the region will remove your rotten ... roots from the region,' the president said in another speech on Sunday night."

Mahmoud, you cannot rile against the Creator and expect to win. I'd like to introduce you to my current, favorite Psalm. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob saw you coming long, long ago, and your future destruction was then determined:

Psalm 83 (NLT)

A song. A psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, do not be silent!
Do not be deaf.
Do not be quiet, O God.
2 Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies?
Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up?
3 They devise crafty schemes against your people;
they conspire against your precious ones.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us wipe out Israel as a nation.
We will destroy the very memory of its existence.”
5 Yes, this was their unanimous decision.
They signed a treaty as allies against you—
6 these Edomites and Ishmaelites;
Moabites and Hagrites;
7 Gebalites, Ammonites, and Amalekites;
and people from Philistia and Tyre.
8 Assyria has joined them, too,
and is allied with the descendants of Lot.
Interlude

9 Do to them as you did to the Midianites
and as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River.
10 They were destroyed at Endor,
and their decaying corpses fertilized the soil.
11 Let their mighty nobles die as Oreb and Zeeb did.
Let all their princes die like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 for they said, “Let us seize for our own use
these pasturelands of God!”
13 O my God, scatter them like tumbleweed,
like chaff before the wind!
14 As a fire burns a forest
and as a flame sets mountains ablaze,
15 chase them with your fierce storm;
terrify them with your tempest.
16 Utterly disgrace them
until they submit to your name, O Lord.
17 Let them be ashamed and terrified forever.
Let them die in disgrace.
18 Then they will learn that you alone are called the Lord,
that you alone are the Most High,
supreme over all the earth.
