Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Country

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!'

2 Timothy 3:
1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

WARNING: Contains brutal reality.

Revelation 20:
4 Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the [LBL] beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their forehead or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

Iraq doesn't have a chance

Good-bye, finally, to Iraq's cities
Will the American lives and treasury spent to prop up and legitimize the Iraqi government prove to have been a good investment? I am pessimistic, seeing Iraq as a historically violent country yet emerging from the Stalinist nightmare of Saddam Hussein, a place replete with corruption, tension, hatred and desire for revenge. Having American troops around for six years temporarily contained the pressures but will barely ameliorate the country's fate.

Isaiah 13:
17 See, I will stir up against them the Medes [today's Iran],
who do not care for silver
and have no delight in gold.

18 Their bows will strike down the young men;
they will have no mercy on infants
nor will they look with compassion on children.

19 Babylon [today's Iraq], the jewel of kingdoms,
the glory of the Babylonians' pride,
will be overthrown by God
like Sodom and Gomorrah.

20 She will never be inhabited
or lived in through all generations;
no Arab will pitch his tent there,
no shepherd will rest his flocks there.

Going nowhere
July 6, 2009: Peace talks with the Palestinians are stalled over two major issues. First, there is still no single Palestinian government to negotiate with. Fatah and Hamas still cannot agree on how to create a joint Palestinian government, or a single negotiating team. Second, Palestinians still insist that any peace deal include the "right of return" (the 4.7 million descendants of the 700,000 Arabs who fled Israel in 1947 be allowed to return to Israel and become citizens).

VP Biden: If Israel wants to bomb Iran, we can't stop them
In an interview with ABC's George Stephanoupolos taped Saturday, vice president Joseph Biden said: "Israel can determine for itself — it's a sovereign nation — what's in their interest and what they decide to do relative to Iran and anyone else." Whether we agree or not? The interviewer asked. "Whether we agree or not," said the vice president.
