Our generation: blind; no reverend fear

For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:31 NLT

Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance. Psalm 82:8 NIV

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV

He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." Acts 10:41-43 NIV

Howdy Endtime!

I've posted a few times on Joel's blog site but I mostly just lurk around, enjoying everyones thoughts/opinions on everything.

I read through your link a few weeks back entitled "Behold the Beast" and found it very interesting. Already lightly familiar with its subject matter from your comments on Joel's blog it shed some additional light on Ellis' position.

I must say it was well thought out and interesting. I have always found it hard to believe that things and people such as the USA, Islam, Hitler, etc. would not be mentioned in Scripture given their close and profound dealings with Israel/Jewish peoples. He certainly makes a case that they were/are.

I can't say that I buy into everything 100% on his theories though. Although to be fair on two points a.) he is much more of a Bible scholar than I and b.) I can't think of any one of my brothers/sisters in Christ that I probably agree with 100% all the time.

So this leads me to ask you a question. Is there any area of Ellis' teachings that you are not in 100% agreement with? Or that outright disagree with?

I understand if these are questions that you don't feel comfortable enough to answer. They are not meant to put you on the spot.

It is just that everyone makes excellent cases for their point of view in regards to eschatology, etc.

I appreciate your time and enjoy your blog. It is one of the very few I take the time to visit.

jg,

I don't mind "being put on the spot". I display my opinions on this blog 24/7 for the whole world to see...literally.

Regarding Mr. Skolfield's theories, I have some issues with his contention that the "mark of the beast" is limited to the populated world at John's time of writing Revelation. I think Ellis refers to this as an ethnogeographic or ethnographic view that the mark of the beast will be forced only on people in the Middle east, while Revelation implies the whole world.

As well, I'm checking up on Skolfield's contention about Daniel's 70th week being translated from the Hebrew word "Shavium". Mr. Skolfield contents that this word actually should be translated as "be-sevened", or a "series of 7's". Skolfield uses Messianic Jew Dr. David Lurie as backup to this contention. I think that the truth of this contention is so critical to supporting or completely killing the traditional belief of a future 70th week, that I actually hunted down Dr. Lurie's hard-to-find book, entitled The Covenant, the Holocaust, & the Seventieth Week online in a book store in India, . I'm working through this book now. Interestingly, I'm finding a lot of truth in words coming from Messianic Jews - like Dr. Lurie and Joel Rosenberg. Could they be especially blessed in interpreting the times? I don't doubt it.

Findings of Mr. Skofield that I find particularly striking are Daniel's days prophesies that place the Dome of the Rock as the Abomination of Desolation, and the days prophesies that pinpoint 1948 and 1967 as significant dates in the remnant of Israel's history. Obviously I've found these findings of Ellis' significant since I permanently posted their graphical depiction on the right margin of this blog.

Mr. Skolfield has made some amazing findings I think. Do I categorically agree with every finding? No, but I think he's on the right track.

I'd better go, I've got a day job to attend to. My above comments are based on memory (because I'm at work), so I may have made some mistakes, since for the moment I'm still in my imperfect, earthly body. But who knows what will happen in the next moment? :)

God bless. Thanks for visiting my blog and for your kind comments.

Thanks Endtime!

I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

I guess where I end up with everything is that I find things from most major Christian points of view that I feel are plausible (in regards to eschatology). I hope that is not as wishy-washy as it sounds. :)

Or to put it another way: we are all a little too right to be 100% wrong and a little too wrong to be 100% right.

I suppose it is better to be like the sons of Issachar (who understood the times and knew what to do about it, 1 Chron. 12:32) then to make every attempt to be a prophet when we haven't been gifted for that.

Thanks again and time will tell!
