2 Peter 3:6-12
6 Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. 7 And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.
8 But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.
11 Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, 12 looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames.
Revelation 14:7He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water."

I'm sure that's what the enviro-nazis are thinking. It drives me crazy that people are so concerned about the earth and yet disregard the only thing that will survive eternity: the human soul.

Generally I avoid Mary Baker Eddy and the Christian Science Monitor, but I have heard about Ahmadinejad's apocalyptic views, and about the 12th Imam Mahdi who's supposedly living down at the bottom of a well in Qom.
It's Ahmadinejad's "twelver" belief that the Imam will only return under chaotic world conditions that makes Iran's nuclear goal even more suspect.
I'm almost half waiting for Ahmadinejad to one day set off a nuclear warhead, and declare war against Israel. That kind of announcement would come to a complete surprise to a sleeping world, and would fit the description of Christ coming back "like a thief", when most of the developed world is worried about the sustainability of a warming earth and the price of gasoline. The unrepentant have MUCH bigger problems than warm weather and gas.
2 For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. 3 When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.
4 But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief.
