Abbas: Israel hampers progress on peace

After his meeting with Rice on Wednesday, Abbas harshly criticized Israel. "There is continuous Israeli aggression while our security forces are trying to impose law and order," he said, but it was not clear whether he was referring to a specific incident.

He mentioned Israeli plans — frozen for now — to build another settlement near Jerusalem — and its decision to resume excavations near a key Jerusalem holy site (hey Abbas, at least they're not digging a 300 foot ditch on the face of the Temple Mount! You hypocrite!). "These actions ... are hindering the endeavor to reach a document with substance, to take to the conference," he said.

Israel and the Palestinians are so far apart. Abbas' Fatah "...trying to impose law and order"? - good luck with that. The Palestinians democratically elected Hamas, which has pledged to wipe out Israel. So what chance is there for peace? Give some credit to Condoleezza for trying to achieve "peace in our time", but it is an exercise in futility. President Bush's legacy will not be final peace in the Middle East. Peace will only be achieved when one side is completely destroyed.

The Bible tells us that only Christ will restore peace in the Middle East by destroying Israel's enemies with the glory of his coming. That coming is soon. Best advice I can give is to humble yourself before the King of Kings TODAY, rather than wait until that day when every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, but it will be too late for most people. Eternal hell is their inheritance. This isn't a pleasant message, nor a message that is preached from the pulpit much these days - but it is a true and trustworthy message. Do not reject what Christ has graciously and freely given you! Do not believe satan's message that "surely you will not die", because without Christ paying for your sins, you will suffer in hell for an eternity. What a horrible thought.

Obadiah:
15 “The day is near when I, the Lord,
will judge all godless nations!
As you have done to Israel,
so it will be done to you.
All your evil deeds
will fall back on your own heads.
16 Just as you swallowed up my people
on my holy mountain,
so you and the surrounding nations
will swallow the punishment I pour out on you.
Yes, all you nations will drink and stagger
and disappear from history.

17 “But Jerusalem will become a refuge for those who escape;
it will be a holy place.
And the people of Israel will come back
to reclaim their inheritance.
18 The people of Israel will be a raging fire,
and Edom a field of dry stubble.
The descendants of Joseph will be a flame
roaring across the field, devouring everything.
There will be no survivors in Edom.
I, the Lord, have spoken!

19 “Then my people living in the Negev
will occupy the mountains of Edom.
Those living in the foothills of Judah
will possess the Philistine plains
and take over the fields of Ephraim and Samaria.
And the people of Benjamin
will occupy the land of Gilead.
20 The exiles of Israel will return to their land
and occupy the Phoenician coast as far north as Zarephath.
The captives from Jerusalem exiled in the north
will return home and resettle the towns of the Negev.
21 Those who have been rescued will go up to Mount Zion in Jerusalem
to rule over the mountains of Edom.
And the Lord himself will be king!”

To the sincere Christians out there - I love today's bible verse - be encouraged by it! It perfectly describes where I'm at:

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 27:14 AMEN!

So many people are blind to what is about to happen. This is HUGE: we're likely the opposite bookend to Adam and Eve. And most people my wife and I talk to just look at us sideways when we talk about where we are on God's calendar. These are people inside and outside the church. It's no wonder the Bible says people's hands will go limp and their hearts will melt when the Day of the Lord comes (Isaiah 13:6-7). They will have no idea of what is coming...until it is too late!

Another thing.. even tho those idiots are destroying archeological digsites.. Im wondering if it is really that big a deal, honestly.
IF we knew we were going to be here for another 1000 years, yes.. that stuff would be awesome to have and to study.. but with us betting that we don't have a year or two left (IF that much).. meh.. not that big a deal. imo.

I'm thinking along the lines of what it says on the top of my blog: "Ultimately all that matters in this life is..." etc
