Obama or McCain, Iran stance won't change
Dialogue may sound good in theory, but the diplomacy taught in Western academies and that taught in Iranian seminaries bear no resemblance to each other. While diplomats in the US, Europe, and Australia seek compromise, Iranian diplomats learn taqiyya, religiously-sanctioned lying...

Only the most naive Democrat or isolationist Republican can ignore Iranian statements promising not only the acquisition of nuclear weapons but their use. On December 14, 2001, for example, Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, perhaps Iran's second most powerful man and one often labelled a pragmatist by Western journalists, suggested that it may not be far-fetched to envision use of nuclear weapons against Israel.

Amid chants of "death to Israel", he declared: "The use of even one nuclear bomb inside Israel will destroy everything ... It is not irrational to contemplate such an eventuality."

Yes, but God has completely other plans. Only He could have predicted 2,500 years ago that the world is going to war over a re-gathered Israel in the time of the end.

The Islamic beast is calling all 'infidels' to war.

Revelation 16:
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it dried up so that the kings from the east could march their armies toward the west without hindrance. 13 And I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs leap from the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. 14 They are demonic spirits who work miracles and go out to all the rulers of the world to gather them for battle against the Lord on that great judgment day of God the Almighty.

15 “Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for me, who keep their clothing ready so they will not have to walk around naked and ashamed.”

Re #1: I think war is a potential way out of financial crisis. When the private sector is in credit paralysis, the government can either start infrastructure projects or start a war to artificially create economic activity. Regarding the oligarchs in Russia, it sounds like there will just be an asset transfer between them because hardly anyone on the outside is interested in investing in Russia (that's my simple understanding anyways).

I'll have to read #2 and #3 later because it's Canadian Thanksgiving and we've got tons of family coming over.

Thanks for the posts. I appreciate them because with the busy weekend, I'm not looking at the news too much. Most of it is depressing anyways.

Re: Russian nuclear aid

That's just a bit disconcerting. Other than the economic turmoil, the world is living in relative peace and safety, but who knows when the first mushroom cloud forms over some part of the Middle East. That could happen any time, especially if a Russian (or the Russians) are aiding Iran. This age could come to an abrupt end any time; that's completely consistent with the Bible's description of the end.
