Before the world as we know it comes to an end, I have a burning ? that has been bugging me for years. Where did the rock that The Dome of the Rock masque covers come from. I can't see Solomon building 1st temple around this rock so it must have come at a later tine, right?

Skolfield maintains that the Dome of the Rock is in the original "court of gentiles" (see Revelation 11:2), while the temple was built on a threshing floor (1 Chronicles 21:22-26) north of this location in line with the East Gate (some good pictures on the url above).
