Israeli polls predict Netanyahu win in close race
...the polls showed voters clearly prefer hard-line parties, predicting Likud and its conservative allies would hold a solid majority in the 120-seat parliament. Such results would likely spell trouble for the U.S.-led Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

Iran: With no sign of American force, that leaves Israel
On the heels of a war likely to be resumed any minute now, and on the last stretch of an [Israeli] election campaign that has been heavier on slogans than on substance, having someone in the know "tell it like it is" is refreshing...

Here we go again

The current economic crisis resembles the Japanese crisis of the 1990's - only this is much worse
The crux of our current crisis is housing, just as Japan’s crisis was related to real estate. Irrational exuberance, as described by Yale economist Robert Shiller, led to the most outrageous housing boom in U.S. history. It was aided and abetted by greedy investment bankers, sleazy mortgage brokers, dishonest appraisers, Alan Greenspan, clueless ratings agencies, and Congressmen in the back pocket of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Delusional home buyers were convinced that flipping houses was a road to riches. Instead, they’ve skidded off the road and fell into a bottomless pit.

LS: You call that "a little truth"? lol!

It's amazing how technologically advanced we are that, as the congressman said, the electronic run on the banks could have brought the world economy to its knees within 24 hours! That's crazy!

If the world economy is that shaky it's only a matter of time before it completely implodes. I appreciate the honesty from the congressman but his analogy of us "being in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean; unsure of which way to swim for land" tells me there will be mass rioting in the streets (coupled with death and destruction) very likely, very soon. It's an appropriate backdrop to the next world war.

Obama's speech on the bailout last night did nothing to increase my confidence in the economy - but my trust was never in the economy. The world is falling apart in every way. You're right Jeri, it's too bad people don't see that.

If we're stuck in 'the middle of the Atlantic', then people better decide quick which life raft to get into.
