Congratulations American taxpayers-you're the new owners of AIG

Federal Reserve Board lends AIG up to $85 billion and takes an 80% stake
Officials decided they had to act lest the nation's largest insurer file bankruptcy. Such a move would roil world markets since AIG has $1.1 trillion in assets and 74 million clients in 130 countries

AIG troubles could have put $62 trillion (that a "T" as in "Tom") CDS market at risk

A reminder of why Paul wrote to Timothy:

Tell those who are rich in this age not to be arrogant and not to place their confidence in anything as uncertain as riches. Instead, let them place their confidence in God, who lavishly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
1 Timothy 6:17

To be satisfied with a little, is the greatest wisdom; and he that increaseth his riches, increaseth his cares; but a contented mind is a hidden treasure, and trouble findeth it not.

Hi Endtime,
We are living in interesting times! Andrew Strom, from www.revivalshool.com, made
clear predictions about when the Recession would turn into a
Depression, why it is happening - and what Christians can do in
the face of this crisis. Check it out on the above website, would love your comments.
Yours in Christ

Endtime, I had a terrible time finding you! Then I remembered you had changed your blog name and pop!, I remembered it was Caffeine Journal again.

I have missed your input and even though Joel's blog has closed and he started one at Word Press, a bunch of us joined at Mr. Hyde's cave and we have some really good discussing going on. Why don't you come by and visit us and Jeri from SA is there to, well, somewhat limited times now with the demands he is facing. But it would be great sharing barbs again with you.

I have always admired your dedication to the study and application of God's word. I know we don't agree on some things but it is still great sharing with you. If you would like to visit us, drop me at note at my blog and I will be more than happy to give you the directions there.

We kinda get out of control ever so often but you can handle that one, I know.

Take care, keep your eyes on the prize and please don't stay away. We got some Latte planning to do, you know.

Hi Jeri,

Thanks for that link to Andrew Strom. I think he makes some good points: that America (especially the west coast) is due God's judgment; that America is the source of a lot of vice and filth being spread throughout the world. It was refreshing to finally hear someone step forward and make some unpopular, but true, statements - even naming some frauds by name (i.e. Joel Osteen).

I heard the Holy Spirit speaking through that sermon. While America may be morally decayed, I don't think many other parts of the world will be spared God's pending judgment either. Speaking from Canada, I see moral decay everywhere as well. Hardly anyone earnestly seeks out the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob anymore, and if you try to talk about immorality or unholy living within the church - well, "church go'ers" I have personally talked to are very quick to say: ' we shouldn't judge'. I've even spoken out about the dangers of homosexuality in a local church only to be shot down and made to shut up because the Alberta Human Rights Council (a government body) could impose a financial fine on the church for discriminating against a minority.

This whole world is almost completely spiritually SCREWED UP! I think there is NO DOUBT that the only God is not pleased, and as Strom indicates, it's only a matter of time before evil-doers hit the wall of God's judgment. Hardly any are taking the examples of Sodom and Gomorrah or The Flood to heart; they think they're just big fairy tales.

I'm finding Christianity to be a very lonely life. My wife and I are seeing spiritual decay inside the local churches as well. Many people are trying to live on both sides of the fence. We have a pretty good pastor, but I find his sermons of conviction are always preceded by an apology that "he's going to say some things people may not like". I really miss the fire and brimstone sermons of the past. I don't remember the pastors apologizing back then! Thankfully many of these sermons are on the internet, because the churches I see around me are spiritually dead or dying a quck death.

Hi WJM,

Thanks for the note - very kind as usual. I have visited Mr Hyde's cave a couple times to check up on the discussion. I'm not sure if I'll join in officially because I'm not really into trading barbs about eschatology any more. It only creates division, so I don't see the point. Now, if there's an argument about doctrinal issues - that's different, and I may be tempted to join in at that point.

Thanks for visiting! ET.

ENDTIME,

Good morning from this part of the country to you in Canada. Hope your day is a day of constant joy and peace, stirred together with the love of God. Things might get a little dicey here but all it really concerns is material and goods. The only thing that really matters is our relationship with Abba.

When the correction and judgment comes it will only be the result of our rebellion and turning away from our heavenly Father who has been most patient and gracious all of these centuries. Judgment is hard to take but we can't say we weren't warned and that was by the word of God and also, his prophets.

So, I invite you to wade in anytime at the cave even though it isn't my blog to begin with. However, I feel like part of the family there and I do love them greatly, every last wrinkle, wart and blemish. You are right about eschatology arguing because no one's mind gets changed and the flames that ensue can cause great harm to the young ones in Christ.

I do miss your wit though and your devotion to Abba always gives me joy unspeakable.

Take care and we will see you later,
WJM
