Sorry only followed up on my post this morning. Quiet willing to discuss the books on your post! I found the books very intriguing. My biblical knowledge on end times is not very good as I never enjoyed Revelations, found it very disjointed and was not too concerned about it until reading some articles that got me on this road of discovery. So I am still learning and exploring my options and concepts as I go along! My belief was that it really did not matter because we are saved by grace and must therefore strive to live a Christ centered life as far as possible. This has not changed, but I am now trying to understand prophetic writings, as I believe we need to know and understand our enemy and where he or they are coming from. I have never felt comfortable about Islam and now after reading the books, I know why!
I am now trying to catch up and I am reading as much as I can but my one draw back is I don’t have anyone to discuss things with. Other Christians here are not perturbed by what is happening and when I bring things up I am usually told not to be an alarmist and most call me “Mr. Doom & Gloom”. A lot say that we have been in end times for many years and say that it won’t be in our life time and some even both to ask why I think it is so close but when I start about the completed prophecies of Israel becoming a nation, Gog and Magog and the Iran and Russian coalition with their arms and nuclear deals, the expansion of Islam, etc. I am laughed off or told not to be pessimistic!
The bottom line is I would love to discuss different schools of thought, so lets begin.
Sure if you want to discuss, or run any theories by me, that would be great. I will not call you Mr Doom and Gloom because I see the end shaping up here during our lifetimes. Do I know for sure that this age will be over within the next 40 years? No of course not, but I think Ellis Skolfield has done his homework in interpreting the "days prophesies" in Daniel. These days prophesies point to 1948 and 1967, two very important dates in Israel's recent history. That to me highlights the importance of the generation we're living in.
It's enough for me to see that Israel has been brought back into her land - right on schedule according to Daniel's prophesy - and that now, Israel is being persecuted by Islam and the countries that surround her. And Islam has now fabricated some story about how important Jerusalem is to the religion (though not mentioned once in the Koran). To say the least we live in very interesting times!!
Now with the Russian bear showing its teeth - what's going on with that? I don't need to tell you, Jeri, that things are becoming ever more volatile and hostile in the world, and things could very quickly explode, even while people are eating, drinking and partying over at the Olympics (for example). Matthew 24:37-39 tells us that most people will be totally oblivious to the potential of Christ's return when it actually happens.
I see that Christ's return could potentially be very soon and occur very fast. All it would take is Israel (and possibly America) attacking Iran, and Iran blocking the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices quadrupling, and immediately the Middle East would have the full attention of the world's armies, each insuring that its interests are protected in the region. Gog & Magog, which incidentally orthodox Jews call "the Last War", could happen very quickly indeed.
Sorry meant to ask how your holiday was? Too short by far, I am sure!
So I am not Mr. Doom & Gloom, how nice! Georgia is very sad and the out come is predictable. No one will come to her aid and she will be incorporated into Russia again or made a satellite state with Czar Putin picked govt officials.
I agree with you about Ellis Skolfield’s lining up of the days with Daniel but now ask the question ‘why do other Christians dispute this and argue and defend their positions with such aggression?’ Ultimately any different approach should not necessitate such conflict, hostility and blindness! I remember some at Joel’s actually asking you to leave the site and those are our fellow brothers and sisters.
I have some questions about the Anti-Christ as many believe him to be an actual person but my understanding of Ellis Skolfield’s interpretation is that it is the religion of Islam. I can see and understand this but where do the others interpret prophecy to one person? The Abomination of Desolation makes sense to me and the time frame is amazing!
Have you considered Dave Lowe’s writings of a huge earthquake happening and what is your take in this? There are so many different interpretations out there from as many people that it is very important to check everything on your own through prayer and reading The Word. We are just touching the iceberg’s top here so I will be asking and probing much more!
Vacation was great, thanks. I'm actually spreading my vacation around so I'll be taking a couple days here and there.
‘why do other Christians dispute this and argue and defend their positions with such aggression?’- So you remember the good ol' days at Joel's blog - lol! Ya, that was unbelievable. Granted I probably came on too strong over there and wasted too much energy in frustration. I'm 110% with you, I was really excited after reading The False Prophet and thought that other Christians would just love reading the book like I did. As you know - MAN WAS I WRONG! I have no possible idea why Skolfield`s interpretations don`t speak to the Holy Spirit (hopefully) living in all of us. For some reason the threat of people losing their preconceived ideas was just too threatening, even though Skolfield`s days prophesies work in a number of places and point to specific times in our recent past. The book of Daniel even states that these prophesies will be sealed until the time of the end:
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
Daniel 12:4
This, quite plainly, says that the book of Daniel is sealed `until the time of the end` doesn`t it. We`re in the time of the end, and now after 1948 and 1967, we can see in retrospect what these prophesies mean. Unfortunately, the vast majority in the churches are sound asleep and unconcerned with, as you say - `doom and gloom` prophesies. Christ coming back is definitely not doom and gloom for those who are prepared. It`s too bad the Revelation 3 Laodicean church of today is too ineffective to care.
The Anti-Christ interpreted as a man comes from 2 Thessalonians 2:3
Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction.
The abomination of desolation is a temple that the traditionalists believe the anti-Christ will build for himself on the Temple Mount on Mount Moriah and doesn't refer to the anti-Christ in their interpretation, I believe. The whole time they are believing in this future, yet non-existent, temple there sits the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount right in front of their eyes - unbelievable!
I have the book from Mark Lowe called Earthquake Resurrection ( I think it's called. I can't find it on my shelf at the moment-?). It has been some time since I read it but I remember that Lowe thinks the biggest earthquake of all time will occur because of the rapture of the true church from earth. I think I remember that the traditionalists at Joel Rosenberg's blog didn't like Lowe's theory because it didn't fit in with their preconceived ideas - again. I like Lowe's timing because the earthquake as recorded in Revelation 11:12 fits perfectly with what I think: that is, that Christ will come to transform us into our heavenly bodies in the twinkling of an eye just before The Day of the Lord where the sun and moon will refuse to shine and Christ will be revealed from heaven - a pre-wrath rapture.
Well I`d better leave it at that for now. I`m getting writer`s cramp on this computer. God bless.
