Full-scale war on Korean peninsula 'unlikely'
"Yesterday North Korea bombed South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island, killing two marines and two civilians. The prevailing analysis is that Kim Jong-il wants to send a message to Seoul that Pyongyang is the superpower on the Korean peninsula."
