Obama Is Pushing Israel Toward War
Events are fast pushing Israel toward a pre-emptive military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, probably by next spring. That strike could well fail. Or it could succeed at the price of oil at $300 a barrel, a Middle East war, and American servicemen caught in between. So why is the Obama administration doing everything it can to speed the war process along?

Settlement freeze for Israel? Give me a break

Conflict runs far deeper than land

It always amazes me how individuals like Richard Silverstein try to rewrite history to fit their world view [“Settlement freeze is first step toward a lasting peace,” Opinion, guest columnist, Sept. 14]. If the settlements were indeed the core issue dividing the parties as he states, then there would not be any conflict.

After all, this did not start in 1967 when Israel, in a defensive war, conquered the Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip. There were no so-called settlements from 1948 until 1967.
The core issue has been, and continues to be, the refusal of the Palestinian Arabs to accept Israel as a Jewish state. The Arabs came up with a new tactic: Instead of trying to destroy Israel from the outside, they would try to destroy Israel from within. How else do you explain the refusal of [former PLO chief Yasser] Arafat and his successors to accept Israeli offers of 95 percent of the West Bank and all of the Gaza Strip in exchange for peace?

Israel has made numerous concessions to the Arabs to try to to make peace. This included the unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and what did it get in return? Rockets raining down on Israel proper. No, the settlements aren’t the problem. The problem is the Arab refusal to accept Israel as a Jewish state.

EU says Iran nuclear talks to take place in Turkey
Solana is calling them 'nuclear talks' but Iran has already clearly said it refuses to talk about its nuclear program. What a complete waste of time. Time is all Iran needs.

Israel orders police to strengthen control of East Jerusalem

Zechariah 12:
1 This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares: 2 "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. 3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations.

Some perspective on this amazing prophesy: 100 years ago Jerusalem meant nothing to everyone, except to some scattered Jews. Today nations are ready to go to war over Jerusalem, and it's perceived as the focal point of world peace.
