America's allies

Saudis ban kids named Benjamin | The Times of Israel
"The banned names are either blasphemous, non-Arabic or non-Islamic, or contradictory to the kingdom’s culture or religion, said the Saudi interior ministry."

This is life in the dar al-Islam. Beautiful isn't it? The Obamanation thinks it is.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Iran is involved. I wonder what they are planning, if this is true.

Flying a nuke into Israel on a plane full of hostages?

"Iran" has been the word all american media has been studiously avoiding. I thought it was likely as not them. If the pilot was in on it, which looks likely, he couldn't have done it by himself. An operation this sophisticated has to be a state actor, and one decently advanced (that's why i think the 'stans' are out.) The question is why they want a B777. If they just needed any ol' airliner, they could have gotten an old B737 from a leasing company cheap, and without arousing any suspicion. i think it's because of two things: the trip-7 can set distance records, and it can fly itself. remember when that B777 crashed at SFO because the auto-pilot WASN'T flying it? (an oversimplification, i know, but you get the idea.)

I can't imagine what it must be like to have had relatives aboard that flight, and not knowing whether it landed or crashed.
