Is the US actually hopeful about the Iranian election?

Front-runner Jalili - Ahmadinejad 2.0
"Khamenei, Iran's spiritual leader, belongs to the theological school of the most religious city in Iran, Mashhad.

In a paper published by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy titled "Apocalyptic Politics: On the Rationality of Iranian Policy," Iranian dissident Mehdi Khalaji writes: "In the twentieth century, the Mashhad seminary was the center for arcane sciences and occult groups..."

Like Khamenei, Jalili was also born in Mashhad. Like Khamenei, as a youngster he also attended the city's extremist theological schools.

There will be only one vote in the Iranian June election, and its name is: Khamenei

A tale of two hearts | David Brog
"The same day that this video was posted, a group of Israelis was engaged in a similar activity. They too surrounded a prostrate Syrian. They too cracked open her chest. But the Israelis did not consume her heart. They healed it. The Israelis were a team of doctors. Their patient was a four-year-old Syrian girl born with a life-threatening heart defect.

This tale of two hearts provides a penetrating insight into what has driven the Arab-Israeli conflict for the last two decades. The radical element in Islam which rejects our reverence for human life cannot be appeased by words, compromises or dialogue. This culture of death demands corpses. Eating them is optional."

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon also spoke against the planned transfer of the advanced weapons to Damascus. “The missiles are a threat,” he said, adding that at the moment the deal was moving at a slow pace. “Let’s hope it doesn’t happen, but if it does, we know how to act.”

You can no longer divide Israel's land and expect to escape unscathed. Look at what happened to Ariel Sharon when he ceded Gaza. God have mercy on the Christians in America and the West.

When Israel hits Syria, it hones military edge for wider war - Firstpost

Prophetic description of our time

2 Timothy 3
New Living Translation (NLT)
The Dangers of the Last Days

3 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

6 They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of[a] vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires. 7 (Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.) 8 These teachers oppose the truth just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. They
depraved minds and a counterfeit faith. 9 But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Jannes and Jambres.

Air force chief warns of 'surprise war' with Syria | The Times of Israel
"Amir Eshel says Assad’s ‘immense arsenal’ could be turned on Israel at any moment, accompanied by rockets from Gaza and Lebanon"

Enough said

1 Chronicles 16 NLT:
14 He is the Lord our God.
His justice is seen throughout the land.
15 Remember his covenant forever—
the commitment he made to a thousand generations.
16 This is the covenant he made with Abraham
and the oath he swore to Isaac.
17 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,
and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant:
18 “I will give you the land of Canaan
    as your special possession.”

Seems the whole world is kicking and screaming about "Israel's invasion of Palestine." They are crying like babies with an equal dose of knowledge about what is going on in the world. Tragically (and pathetically) I'm even hearing this complaint in today's "church" as a pastor in a local church ( I can't even call it "my church") blindly once stated: "Israel has no theological right to the Land. " WHAT?! The only God, the God of Israel handed the land to Israel long ago. What are mere humans going to do to try and change this? Are they trying to rewrite the ending which has already been written?

The end of the age, which we're living in now, is characterized by man's final rebellion against God's plan for Israel. God's prophets in the Old Testament accurately testified that the END would be like this, the END would be like we're seeing every day in the media. There is nothing that will keep a prophecy from coming true, but I can't help wondering how ignorant and plain simple-minded unrepentant man is, and that includes those who are outside and inside the Spirit-starved church of today.

Israel has come alive again right in front of everyone's eyes, in perfect fulfillment of Daniel's "time, times and half a time" prophecies (there are two that point to Israel resurgence in our day - see Ellis H. Skolfield). And yet the vast majority in our time, seemingly an ever increasing majority, of the "wise" of our time completely reject that they are on a collision course railing against the coming Almighty One. How pointless is that?

My prayer for this generation, conceivably the "last generation", is that more would wake from their stupor, from their slumber, and realize that they need reconciliation with the Creator of All Things before it is too late. Look at Syria, Iran, Russia, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon - the gathering storm clouds around Israel - clearly the last hour is here, but tomorrow the Son will come to Israel's rescue and He will shine for all eternity. There is nothing that will change that ending.

Isaiah 63 NLT:
"Who is this who comes from Edom,

    from the city of Bozrah,
    with his clothing stained red?
Who is this in royal robes,
    marching in his great strength?
“It is I, the Lord, announcing your salvation!
It is I, the Lord, who has the power to save!”
2 Why are your clothes so red,
as if you have been treading out grapes?
3 “I have been treading the winepress alone;
no one was there to help me.
In my anger I have trampled my enemies
    as if they were grapes.
In my fury I have trampled my foes.
Their blood has stained my clothes.
4 For the time has come for me to avenge my people,
to ransom them from their oppressors.
5 I was amazed to see that no one intervened
    to help the oppressed.
So I myself stepped in to save them with my strong arm,
    and my wrath sustained me.
6 I crushed the nations in my anger
and made them stagger and fall to the ground,
spilling their blood upon the earth.”"

Yaalon: We destroyed Syrian Golan position. Damascus: We fired on Israeli patrol
“The rope is taut. It is taut to the limit. Anyone at either end [Israel at one end, Syrian and Hizballah, at the other] need only flex a finger and it will break, and the great confrontation will take place. This is neither a threat, nor an exaggeration or interpretation. This is the situation on the enemy’s northern front. Now means today; it means this hour,” al-Amin wrote. Israeli intelligence experts have no doubt that the writer penned those words at the behest of his master, Hizballah’s Hassan Nasrallah, and Bashar Assad.

Four Russian S-300 batteries shipped to Syria

DEBKAfile May 17, 2013, 9:00 AM (GMT+02:00)
Moscow reports that four batteries of S-300 systems with 100-150 simultaneously deployable, guided anti-aircraft missiles have already been shipped to Syria complete with Russian military “adviser” crews. DEBKAfile:An Israeli strike to smash this weapon in Syria could not avoid hitting its Russian crews.

Russia sends at least 12 warships to Syria | The Times of Israel
"Russia’s increased presence in the region — which began raising eyebrows in the US three months ago — represents one of its largest sustained naval deployments since the Cold War, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday...

Also Thursday, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov shrugged off Israeli pleas not to sell sophisticated S-300 air defense systems to Bashar Assad’s regime, saying Moscow would fulfill its contract with Damascus. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly warned Russian President Vladimir Putin, in emergency talks on Tuesday, that the sale could push the region toward war.

Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya will join you, too, with all their weapons. Gomer and all its armies will also join you, along with the armies of Beth-togarmah from the distant north, and many others.
“Get ready; be prepared! Keep all the armies around you mobilized, and take command of them. A long time from now you will be called into action. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war and after its people have returned from many lands to the mountains of Israel. You and all your allies—a vast and awesome army—will roll down on them like a storm and cover the land like a cloud.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Netanyahu ended their three-hour meeting in Sochi Tuesday, May 14, at loggerheads on Syria. In fact, Putin warned his guest that Israel and its army, the IDF, were heading for war with Syria in which Russia might well be involved – and not just through the advanced S-300 anti-air missiles supplied to the Assad government...

Putin viewed the stationing of US forces in the Gulf of Aqaba just two hours away the Israeli-Syrian border for repelling Syrian-Iranian-Hizballah aggression against Israel or Jordan – signaled by the Kearsage’s arrival - as an act of bad faith by Washington. On the one hand, they want us to cooperate for an international conference to end the bloodshed in Syria, while on the other, they deploy military forces, he complained to Netanyahu."

Obama's Pink line over Damascus

Charles Krauthammer: Pink line over Damascus
"You know you're in trouble when you can't even get your walk-back story straight. Stung by the worldwide derision that met President Obama's fudging and fumbling of his chemical-weapons red line in Syria, the White House leaked to The New York Times that Obama's initial statement had been unprepared, unscripted and therefore unserious.

The next day Jay Carney said precisely the opposite: "Red line" was intended and deliberate.

I will trample them on my mountains.
My people will no longer be their slaves
nor bow down under their heavy loads.
26 I have a plan for the whole earth,
a hand of judgment upon all the nations.
27 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken—
who can change his plans?
When his hand is raised,
who can stop him?”

Assad and Damascus will fall as predicted almost 3,000 years ago by the prophet Isaiah!

Isaiah 17

New Living Translation (NLT)

A Message about Damascus and Israel

17 This message came to me concerning Damascus:
“Look, the city of Damascus will disappear!
It will become a heap of ruins.
The towns of Aroer will be deserted.
Flocks will graze in the streets and lie down undisturbed,
with no one to chase them away.
The fortified towns of Israel[a] will also be destroyed,
and the royal power of Damascus will end.
All that remains of Syria[b]
will share the fate of Israel’s departed glory,”
declares the Lord of Heaven’s Armies...

[Israel's glory departed in the past, but God is building her up again now, in these last days. To understand where we are on God's timeline [that being at the end of the age - read Ellis Skolfield's "The False Prophet" pdf book - great stuff there!]

12 Listen! The armies of many nations
roar like the roaring of the sea.
Hear the thunder of the mighty forces
as they rush forward like thundering waves.
13 But though they thunder like breakers on a beach,
God will silence them, and they will run away.
They will flee like chaff scattered by the wind,
like a tumbleweed whirling before a storm.
14 In the evening Israel waits in terror,
but by dawn its enemies are dead.
This is the just reward of those who plunder us,
a fitting end for those who destroy us.

" But DEBKAfile notes that if Israeli troops have indeed penetrated Lebanon to a depth of 5-7 kilometers and reached the Shebaa Farms, they have taken up positions opposite the 30 Syrian Shiite villages guarded by incoming Iranian elite Basij militiamen."

I truly hope DEBKAfile is right. I don't take pleasure in suffering (schadenfreude) , but instead have great hope in the soon coming of the Messiah! I don't know if this is "the war", but I have been waiting for the final showdown between Israel and Ishmael my whole life, so it's hard not to be excited.

"American sources reported Israeli air strikes Saturday, May 4, against a number of targets in Syria including a chemical weapons depot outside Damascus. They were carried out remotely from Lebanese air space and the Golan starting Friday and continuing up until early Saturday, May 3. Neither Damascus nor Jerusalem has yet confirmed the attacks in which according to US sources 16 IAF warplanes took part. "

Obama moving toward sending lethal arms to Syrian rebels, officials say - The Washington Post
"President Obama is preparing to send lethal weaponry to the Syrian opposition and has taken steps to assert more aggressive U.S. leadership among allies and partners seeking the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad, according to senior administration officials."

Israel, Syria, Obama and Iran

Luis Hershou
The events in the last twenty four hours are developing at a fast pace. What follows is my analysis regarding these developments and their implications.
Obama’s ”chemical red line” to Syrians was loud and clear.
The Syrians got the message, but one has to understand the ”middle east mentality” to understand their behavior afterwards.
Assad didn’t attacked the ”rebels” immediately with WMD on a grand scale.  Instead, he began to test the West’s reaction using the “salami slice” method.
Small, limited attacks using the substances began months ago.  The West’s failure to react allowed him to “up the ante” little by little until it became clear to everyone that chemicals were in fact being used.
Proof of these activities were collected by certain teams on the ground and brought to the attention of the US Administration.
Obama is now faced with having to take action against the use of deadly gas by Assad forces.
At this stage – and even later – it is fair to assume that no massive American  ground operation will occur.  Instead, special forces for dealing with the WMD depots there will be used.
It’s also a fair assumption that the US Air Force will be soon felt in the skies above Syria.
Bottom line: Intense American activity should be expected above as well as in Syria in a matter of days. This is the ”game changer” the President has spoken about.
Now, regarding Israel’s position:
In the event of an American intervention in Syria – even a limited one – Israel will restrain itself from acting so as not to “jam” the American operations.
But…and this is a big ”but” - if attacked, Israel will defend itself.
It’s possible that under orders from Iran, Hezbollah may retaliate against Israel if Syria is attacked by the Americans.
It is really no surprise then, the sudden and division-level military exercise executed by IDF today in northern  Israel.
Thousands and thousands of reservist troops are being mobilized with no advance warning. The American intervention in Syria is likely to be a limited one that will not involve other related countries such as Lebanon and Iran.
Israel can be expected not to attempt to widen the war to Iran at this stage.
But…- and this is an even bigger “but” than the previous one – If Iran and its surrogate Hezbollah overplay their hands and launch missiles at Israel, then the theater of operations will be extended.
We will then be witness to the annihilation of Hezbollah as a military force in Lebanon’ .
Speculation is running wild about the outcome in Syria. In this era of a re-gathered Israel, every Christian should be closely monitoring what's happening on Israel's northern border. With Daniel's Days prophecies fulfilled (it is true, although I know Christians who will argue til they're blue-faced that I'm wrong), and with Israel becoming a nation again on one day (Isaiah 66:8) - expect to see big things in our time. We are at the time of the end, a time of great hope and expectation for every Christian. Just don't get caught up in the mindset of the seventh, last church - Laodicea. It doesn't go well for them in the end.

Revelation 3:
14 “Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen—the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s new creation:
15 “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! 17 You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.18 So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. 19 I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.
20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. 21 Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
22 “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”

It won't go well in Syria either -

Isaiah 17:

This message came to me concerning Damascus:
“Look, the city of Damascus will disappear!
It will become a heap of ruins.
