I wonder if she cares to know that her resolution is being used by God? Ya, that's right, I said "God".
Pitfalls abound if U.S. labels slaughter of Armenians a genocide
I can't help thinking that the U.S. House of Representatives proposed resolution to condemn the slaughter of 1.5 million Armenians as a genocide, is being discussed at this specific point in our history for a reason. After all, this genocide occurred way, way back in 1915. Why is it suddenly before the House of Representatives at this time, when the U.S. war on Iraq is heavily dependent on a supply base in Turkey, and peace in Northern Iraq completely depends on Turkey's cooperation?
I'm thinking that God is "turning up the heat", so to speak, in the Middle East, and is preparing for the complete desolation of Iraq/ancient Babylon as per Isaiah 13. But here's the really interesting thing: notice what immediately follows the utter destruction of the whole country of Babylon, in Isaiah 13:4-6
4 Listen, a noise on the mountains,
like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms,
like nations massing together!
The LORD Almighty is mustering
an army for war.
5 They come from faraway lands,
from the ends of the heavens—
the LORD and the weapons of his wrath—
to destroy the whole country.
it will come like destruction from the Almighty.
Call me utterly crazy (really I don't mind-I've been frequently called worse :)), but I'm thinking more and more that the country "from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens" that is going to "destroy the whole country" of Babylon (i.e. today's Iraq) is the U.S. and her coalition forces. Then notice what immediately follows this destruction and desolation of Babylon/Iraq in verse 6: "the day of the Lord". And this isn't just a hum-drum "day of the Lord". This is THE Day of the Lord, the Day of the Lord's judgment. Verse 10 talks about the sun being darkened and the moon not giving its light. This is key to knowing that it is THE Day of the Lord:
9 See, the day of the LORD is coming
—a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—
to make the land desolate
and destroy the sinners within it.
10 The stars of heaven and their constellations
will not show their light.
The rising sun will be darkened
and the moon will not give its light.
29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'[c]
30"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. [emphasis mine]
The Day of the Lord leads directly into the second coming of Christ!! Call me crazy again (I'm quite used to it), but I think we are very close to Christ's second coming. Christ's second coming is linked to the desolation of Iraq, as per Isaiah 13. Don't worry I'm not proposing an exact date, but I am proposing that we are seeing Isaiah's prophesies coming alive before our very eyes!! WE ARE PROBABLY ON THE VERY VERGE OF ONE OF THE BIGGEST MOMENTS IN ALL OF MANKIND. I don't think I could under-state this. This absolutely boggles the human mind! May the Holy Spirit minister to your soul in these last days. Be ready!
Revelation 6:
12I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16They called to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?" [emphasis mine]

I don't think your crazy at all. Something about all of this just seems like it needs to happen or should happen or is meant to happen. I don't know...it's a very strong feeling I have been having lately. Thank you for your blog! I read it every day. Come Lord Jesus Come
Thank you for visiting. I know I'm not crazy, but I just said that because what I said in this post is so far removed from most peoples' every day life.
Christ coming back - even as a born again Christian, it's difficult to imagine the magnitude (the "huge-ness") of Christ coming back in massive power and glory. Oh Lord, prepare our hearts. Personally I think I'm literally going to just fall to my knees and weep uncontrollably if we have any warning before we are transformed in the twinkling of an eye (1 Corinthians 15:51-52). What a thought!! And really: What a privilege (and responsibility) to likely be in the last generation. I feel like Noah or Lot.
God bless you!
I have a bit of a story about falling to the knees...I was in the bay area of California driving on Hwy 17 towards Santa Cruz. My daughter was sitting in the passenger seat and my husband was in the back seat recovering from his mother's sudden death. Our daughter who was only 8 or so at the time said Momma look! a cross in the sky! Ok I'm thinking uh huh a cross but she was insistant saying look look and I did...it was the most beautiful perfect cross. We all looked and at that moment even though I didn't actually believe, my first thought was to get out right there on the highway and get on my knees. I knew I couldn't possibly do anymore but then in a moment's time it left the sky. That was in the early 90's and I'm still asking my husband and daughter if they were sure that they saw it. It truly was a sign from the Lord just for us at that moment. Yeah I know a little about wanting to get on my knees and I'm sure that's was will happen. We will be humbled.
Wacko!!
er.. I mean.. ya! Can't wait!
We are *supposed* to know / watch for the season, Jesus himself reprimanded those of that era for not seeing what was standing right in front of them!
The world is in for a big surprise any day now.
anonymous,
That's a very cool story. I love it when God shows Himself to us. It's rarely a lightening bolt from heaven, but for me is frequently when I just read the Bible and hear God telling me exactly what I need to hear at the exact right moment.
The last time was a couple days ago, when I read:
"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." Psalm 27:14
I was getting a little discouraged by all the godlessness I see and how the whole world is going down the proverbial toilet. I was getting a little anxious wondering "how much longer can it go?" But God told me and tells us simply: wait on Him and be strong. That sounds extremely simple...because it is simple. God will give us all the strength we need until we meet Him, whether we die or are snatched out of here...and that's incredibly comforting.
Now, if I can only stop the stupid sins that I do in this life, that would be great. But that won't be achieved until I'm transformed out of this earthly flesh.
Jeepthang,
IMO: It could be any day or year, but I don't think "in a decade or more". The telltale sign is that Israel is back in the land (the fig tree of Matthew 24 is blooming again), and Ahmadinejad and his ilk can only push the re-gathered Israelites around so much before the God of Israel takes revenge on them physically in a Gog&Magog/Armageddon-like fashion.
I pray that more would dedicate their lives to Christ before that dreadful day. It won't be pretty on that last day. I was reading yesterday:
15 See, the LORD is coming with fire, and his chariots are like a whirlwind; he will bring down his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For with fire and with his sword the LORD will execute judgment upon all men, and many will be those slain by the LORD. Isaiah 66:15-16
The truth is it will not be a great day for the vast majority of the people I see on the streets every day. That's one of the biggest reasons I think I feel like Noah and Lot must have felt.
"15 See, the LORD is coming with fire, and his chariots are like a whirlwind; he will bring down his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire."
I seem to recall reading about nuclear explosions. If I remember right, tornados of fire are spawned as a result of the massive and sudden heat flash.
Interesting when put next to that Scripture.
Hi Endtime- I'm as crazy as you! Daniels visions have been fulfilled, the Abomination has been on the Temple Mount for centuries, the USA and allies are positioned in Iraq, now this out of the blue resolution about Turkey. Every day I study The Book of Isaiah-going on 2 months now- and every day I see more prophecies that have been fulfilled. for example: Isa 55:17 [to Israel] "and no weapon forged against you will prevail" The biological weapon Syria was getting ready to fire at Israel in July? The nuclear facility the IAF took out in Sept.? Our LORD is faithful, He's at the door.......
I'm pleading with Him for my children, with tears and a broken heart.
Jamie
Jamie,
A prayer just went up for your children, and all who are lost including my in-laws. Understandably my wife is not as excited about discussing "Day of the Lord" stuff like I am. It's very tough when you have family facing judgment. All we can do is pray.
Jeepthang,
I've heard the nuclear explanation for some of these verses before, but I have no doubt that God Himself can bring down that kind of destruction, without the aid of man. Don't take this personally because this is just my 2-cent opinion, but I'm thinking it could just be a divine destruction, free of anything nuclear at all - like Sodom and Gomorrah. Let's face it, God could vaporize all creation 'yesterday', if He felt like it, and He would be totally justified in doing it, except for Christians who are washed in the blood of His Son. Amen, what a gift!
I am discouraged with all the godlessness as well. Each day I wake up it seems to be getting worse and worse. From the attacks of people not wanting to hear the word Jesus (I suspect it's because it's the truth)to all the middle east situations...it's spinning out of control at a fast rate. But what is most astounding is this Russia Iran alliance and this Nancy Pulosi Turkey thing. Why would someone bring up something that happened 95 years ago or so? Is she really wanting to stop our troops from getting supplies? It can't be that right? She is catholic! She has kids and grandkids and a husband! Hasn't Bush let her see the real trouble or is that it? Even he doesn't know? Yeah I get discouraged too.
God Bless

Bunniegirl :o)
bunniegirl,
Ya, but why do we let ourselves get discouraged? I mean let's think about this: God is obviously in control and we've got the best ultra long-term, amazing retirement plan coming. That's what we've got to keep our eyes on!!
You know why we get discouraged? It's because we're a complete counter-culture to all the garbage that is going on out there. Satan sees that he's got limited time, and he's trying to discourage us in these last days, so that we give up and give up on completing "The Commission". We got to remind ourselves that we're almost at the finish line. What other generation has been able to say that?!
God bless. Let's remind ourselves of WHO we serve, and WHO lives in us.
