Assad's chemical weapons join the ranks of Iran's nuclear activities

The Lavrov-Kerry Peace Plan...hopeless
Chemical weapons deal may end up strengthening Assad
"The process of removing Assad's chemical weapons could take years, giving Assad and his Russian allies time. The destruction of Libya's main chemical stockpiles were only completed this year, nearly 10 years after Moammar Gadhafi said he would relinquish his nuclear program and chemical weapons stockpiles.

During that time, Assad will likely be able to continue battling rebels while dealing with weapons inspectors and attempting to consolidate his power."

The "Kerry-Lavrov Plan" (snicker) looks to me like just a convenient way for Obama to climb down from doing the highly unpopular. There is no way Russia and Syria will cooperate with the West and it will quickly resemble the nuclear stalemate in Iran. In fact the two sides have already hit a wall with Russia demanding the US first promise not to attack Syria before any disarmament begins. The US, of course, refused. So we're stuck already with this "peace plan." Meanwhile Assad is stepping up his war against the "freedom fighters" and Russia is boosting arms shipments to help Assad do so. Talk about a kooky week.
