My reply to Legal Sodium took me a while to type up in a recent discussion, so I feel the need to post it here (all that work, whew!) ...

Some things aren't adding up in the Caucuses and in rumors of war with Iran:

Ya I hear ya about the globalresearch.ca website. They are 'left-leaning' to say the least. But some things don't add up:

>the retraction in that story was that "the Bush administration has not decided to carry out a naval surge directed against Iran immediately following the conduct of the North Atlantic War Games"... there's still time before the Nov. 4th US election to form a naval blockade in the Persian Gulf, if that's in fact, in the works.

>Sending 'humanitarian' aid to Georgia aboard the destroyer USS McFaul is just a bit... "totally crazy" since it feeds Russian speculation that the US is re-arming the Georgians for the next conflict.

>From almost all reports, the Georgian conflict was started by Georgia, and Georgia's president, Mikhail Saakashvili doesn't even go to the bathroom without asking Washington for permission. So who really pulled the trigger?

>Defense Secretary Robert Gates was put in charge of the 'humanitarian mission' to Georgia(?).

>The statement by Georgia's president, Mikhail Saakashvili was interesting. He blames the west for failing to respond to the crisis. Somehow he expected a response. What gave him that idea?
Saakashvili is comparing the current conflict to Vietnam and he is saying the U.S. is also to blame. According to the AP:
"I feel that they are partly to blame," he said today, pointing a shaking finger at Secretary Rice. "Not only those who commit atrocities are responsible ... but so are those who fail to react", he said. Sounds like he was told to act and was betrayed, to me.

>The USS Mount Whitney is reportedly headed next into the Black Sea to provide "humanitarian aid", although permission from Turkey is not forthcoming. The USS Mount Whitney? The USS Mount Whitney is the 6th fleet flagship and the world's most advanced command and control ship. The Mount Whitney can receive and transmit huge amounts of secure data from any point on earth and provide intelligence and operational support as needed. Nice potential vantage point of Israel and Iran from the Black Sea, I figure.

>The Dutch article I mentioned in my last post is a bit curious. There's been rumors of an Iran war for months/years but the situation in the Middle East, I feel, is right at its flashpoint.

AMSTERDAM, 30/08/08 - The Dutch AIVD secret service has had an ultra-secret operation underway in Iran in recent years. This has been halted in connection with plans for a US attack on Iran, newspaper De Telegraaf reported Friday.

The "ultra-secret operation" had as its aim infiltration and sabotage of the weapons industry in the Islamic republic. "The operation, described as extremely successful, was halted recently in connection with plans for an impending US air attack on Iraq. Along with this, targets would also be bombed which were connected with the Dutch espionage action," writes the Netherlands' biggest newspaper.

"One of the agents involved, who was able to infiltrate the Iranian industry under the supervision of the AIVD, was recently recalled because the US was thought to be making a decision within weeks to attack Iran with unmanned aircraft. Among the potential targets were said to be not only nuclear plants, but also military installations that have been brought to light partly by the agency of the AIVD," according to the newspaper.

"Information from the AIVD operation has in recent years been shared with the American CIA secret service," the paper continued. "Various supplies could also be sabotaged and stopped. These were parts for missiles and launching equipment."

The article was written by Joost de Haas, known for his good contacts in the intelligence world. Earlier, he got hold of an AIVD report which suggested that corrupt powers within Dutch police corps supplied weapons to criminals to liquidate other criminals.

So Georgia may be step #1 after all.

Naval Blockade or All Out War Against Iran?

The planning of a naval blockade by the Bush administration (Operation Brimstone, H Con 362) occurs at the very outset of an unfolding crisis in the Caucasus, marked by the Georgian air and ground attacks on South Ossetia and Russia's counterattack. The timing and chronology of these related and concurrent military operations is crucial.

We are not dealing with separate and unrelated military events. The war in Georgia is an integral part of US-NATO-Israeli war preparations in relation to Iran. The war gives the US a reason to maintain a naval presence in the Black Sea under the guise of providing humanitarian aid to Georgians.

Georgia does not act militarily without the assent of Washington. The Georgian head of State is a US proxy and Georgia is a de facto US protectorate.

The attack on South Ossetia was launched by Georgia on the orders of the US and NATO. US military advisers and trainers were actively involved in the planning of Georgia's attacks on the South Ossetia capital.
